The Decade of 2000 - 2009 - Was It THAT Bad?

And so, another year, and another decade comes to an end. It seems just like yesterday that we were worried about the Y2K bug bringing the computer world to its knees.

Was it such a bad decade?

Like all decades, the answer is yes and no. The 60s were turbulent and hectic - President Kennedy was assassinated, as were his brother, Bobby, and Martin Luther King. But twelve American astronauts walked on the moon. There were protesters against the war in Viet Nam, but there were great strides in civil rights and women's rights. Drugs seemed to take over the youth of America, but some great music was created.

So, what about 2000 - 2009? Most people consider the events of 9/11 as the worst tragedy of the decade. But we went to war, twice, and we are still embroiled in a Viet Nam-like scenario -- we got in it but now can't seem to get out of it!

And there were other not-such-good things as well -- Hurricane Katrina, four dollars a gallon gasoline, the space shuttle Columbia disaster, Islamic extremists who don't mind killing innocent women and children, and the worldwide recession we're in right now.

But there were some good things (and this is open to interpretation) -- MP3 players, high definition and flat screen televisions, digital cameras, Google, Yahoo, Wikipedia, MySpace, FaceBook, Twitter, YouTube, GPS, online shopping, and fuel efficient hybrid cars.

And those things that may, or may not, be good or bad -- President Obama, global warming, MP3 players, MySpace, FaceBook, Twitter, YouTube, and online shopping.

Let's just hope that 2010 is a better year than 2009.

If there was EVER a need for the Death Penalty!

.
I read in the newspaper a few days ago about a man who had been raping his seven-year-old stepdaughter for the past four years. Which meant he started when she was three!

I am a stong believer in the death penalty. And if ANYONE should be put to death, this sickening pervert should.

And I don't mean strapping him down and injecting him with chemicals until he falls asleep and then his heart stops. He needs to be strapped into an electric chair and the voltage should be applied in stronger and stronger amounts, insuring that he suffers as much as possible before dying.

But since there are those of you think this is too much suffering for the pervert, then I present an alternative: Give him the option of death, or have his penis amputated and have his testicles removed and then serve the rest of his life in prison with no (and I repeat NO) chance of parole, EVER.

And for those of you who don't believe in the death penalty because it smacks of revenge, well -- SO WHAT?

The reason we put criminals in prison is because we believe they need to be punished for their crimes. If that isn't revenge, then what is it?

And So --- It Begins

And once again Thanksgiving is being skipped over in favor of the Christmas season. So, too, TOO early we are being innundated by Christmas shopping ads on TV, the radio, magazine and newspapers.

Most of them I can ignore, mute the sound, or change the channel. But the one set of commercials I cannot move fast enough to switch channels are the cloying, nauseating TV ads for the Publix grocery stores. And it's not just Christmas. Every holiday that comes by (Mother's Day for example), they roll out these sweetly sickening commercials.

Which is the main reason I will NEVER shop at Publix.

Enough is enough, but too much is TOO MUCH ! !! !!!

Progressive Insurance Ads

.
I don't have much use for most TV ads (who does), but some I just cannot stand and will change the channel. But there is one that I can't hit the remote button fast enough! And it is the Progressive insurance ad with the horrible, disgusting, nauseating, vomit-inducing so-called woman wearing white with bright red lips.

If there ever was a candidate to have to wear a burka, she is it. And if anyone should have had their vocal cords cut at birth it is this female (along with Billy Mayes).

There is only one way I would EVER buy Progressive insurance (even if I could have my car, house and life insured for $1 per year), and that is if someone, on live TV, would smash her face in with a sledge hammer!

Thanks a LOT Yahoo!

After working on my web site for more than five and a half years, Yahoo has cancelled Geocities. They promised that everything would be moved to their other web hosting sites. But they are business sites. And they said how easy it would be, but since Geocities is no longer availabe, there was NO WAY for me to access my original site to even transfer the info myself.

THANKS A LOT Yahoo ! !! !!!

Kristen Bell

One of my favorite television series was Veronica Mars. Of course, the main reason was its star, Kristen Bell. She is one of the most gorgeous of the young women on TV and in the movies today.

Except when she grins. To me, her mouth is way WAY too wide when she smiles, as the photo below demonstrates--

To me, she is at her most beautiful when she either doesn't smile, or doesn't smile too broadly, as in this photo --

Despite this one little flaw (which definitely IS NOT her figure, which I find particularly sexy and alluring!) Kristen is one of my favorites.

Disney World Orlando

This past week a couple of family members and I went to Disney World (also Universal Studios) on vacation. Last year at Disney you could only buy a one-day pass, or a four-day pass (and they threw in a fifth day free, making sure that you would spend your whole week at Disney World and NO PLACE else). But this year they had one, two, three, four, and five day passes. We (I) opted for a two-day pass, and got the third day free (and an extra discount because we were Florida residents).

Disney World has changed and grown MUY MUCHO (very much) since it first opened back in 1971 (!!!!). The first time I went you had to buy ticket booklets. And depending on how much you wanted to pay depended on the rides you got to go on. For example, for the lowest price you would get one or two good rides (such as The Haunted Castle or Space Mountain), one or two so-so rides (such as the train ride around the Magic Kingdom or It's A Small World), and then a couple of cheap rides (like the Merry-Go-Round or Mr. Toad's Wild Ride [no longer there]).

I know this is hard to believe, but the first time I went there were three adults and one child (she was 17) and all four of us got in for only $20 ! !! !!!. Of course we (I) bought the cheap tickets.

Probably the only real down side was that we went in the middle of August with daytime temps at 90° (34°C) or higher and high humidity. But the up side was all those gorgeous young-to-middle-aged women walking around in bikini tops and halter tops and tube tops! !! !!! Some of the most delicious breasts to be seen ANYWHERE ! !! !!! Fortunately, I was with my daughter (no wife) so I could look and drool as much as I wanted.

We didn't go to Epcot this year because we spent one day at Universal Studios. Which isn't as extensive as Disney World, but still has some pretty good rides and attractions to experience.

Not sure about next year. I (we) will still have to go in August (since my ex-wife and I were sucked and suckered into buying a time share condo in Kissimmee so many years ago, and when we split up, she got the house and I got the condo). I'd like to do something different, and go someplace different, but if I can afford to go at all, I'll just have to see.

Shiri Appleby Or Alexis Bledel???

The first time I saw Shiri Appleby was when she starred in the TV show Roswell. (Actually, the real first time I saw her was on an episode of Xena which aired before Roswell. But in that show she was only cute and SO irritating that I really wanted Gabrielle to beat the snot out of her!) At the time she was 21 going on 22 (she was born Dec 1978 and the first episode aired Oct 1999). And I was totally hooked. She was the most gorgeous woman I had ever seen. That's not to say she was the most glamorous or most beautiful woman in the world, but there was just something about her that I couldn't resist. One reviewer of the show described her perfectly. He said she was "impossibly sweet looking," and I have to agree 100%. Maybe that's why I found her so appealing.

Below are two pictures of Shiri. The first is her showing her sweetness. The second shows just how sexy and erotic she can be. (Click the pics to see the larger image)

And now -- Alexis Bledel.

Of course, the first time I ever saw Alexis was when she played Rory Gilmore on Gilmore Girls. Alexis was 19 at the time. She was supposed to be 16, but she looked about 14 to me. But as the years passed she changed from a very cute and sweet looking teenager to a really beautiful young woman, as witnessed by the two photos below.

And I have to say that in my Fantasy Universe if I was given the choice of spending the rest of my life with one or the other, I'd probably go insane trying to choose!!

Both are so gorgeous, and both have figures I find particularly and especially appealing.

What to do? What to do? What to DO?

She's BAAACK!

I'm talking about Lucy Lawless. But not in the anticipated-but-never-to-be-made Xena movie. But she will be in the new TV show "Spartacus: Sand and Blood" on the Starz network next January (2010).

And the best part is that there will be some (or at least one) nude love scenes. No doubt we'll see her breasts, and since she is considering (at this time) wearing a merkin (a pubic wig [YES that's what I said!] ), maybe more than the just her globos will be seen. (Actually, the scene has already been shot. Lucy said it was so stressful she went home and got right into bed [and we can only wonder if Rob joined her]. )

Of course the day after the nude scene is aired, the pictures and videos will blanket the Internet/YouTube.

Lucy plays Lucretia, the wife of a slave owner (despite what you may believe watching Xena, Greek women had little, if any, real equality).

And as you can see from the photo below, Lucy looks nothing like Xena, but she still is HOT! To be 40 years old, Lucy Lawless is nothing less but purely amazing looking. (Rob Tapert sure knew what he was doing when he married her! )

Now if we can only see some/one nude scene with ReneƩ O'Connor!

Wrong Is Now Right?

Another gripe -- Why the hell have people started calling movie previews "trailers?"

A trailer is something that comes LAST!

A preview is what comes FIRST!

I don't know who the asshole is who started this, but WHY is it that (almost) everyone is being so stupid?

What's next? Dogs are cats? Black is white? Rape is love?

"I'm So SORRRY!"

Nothing galls me more than for some politician, or celebrity, or otherwise famous personality to be caught screwing around on his or her spouse, or heard bad-mouthing someone else, or heard making a racial, ethinic, or religious slur, and then go on TV and tell the world just how sorry they are!

Bull shit!

The only thing they are sorry about is that they got caught! If no one ever found out about what they did or said, then they would never regret it and would keep right on just like it was perfectly all right.

If they were truly sorry, they would go to the insulted person, make their apologies in private, and then if the injured person felt the apologiy was sincere, then they could appear together and the celeb could THEN make the apology public.

But I'd still be skeptical.

Free At Last ! !! !!!

Today, after almost two years, my daughter has moved out of my house and into her own apartment!

What I will miss --
* Her cooking supper three or four times a month.
*

What I will NOT miss --
* Waking up in the middle of the night because her TV is too loud.
* Waking up in the middle of the night cold because she is fat and has turned the AC down too low.
* The kitchen sink full of dirty dishes until there are no clean ones left to use.
* The dish drainer full of clean dishes until they are used and put into the sink.
* My electric bill 50 - 60% higher than it should be because she has to use the clothes dryer because she is too sorry / lazy to hang them on the clothesline outside.
* Having to give her money every other week for her methadone doctor because she is too lazy / sorry to get a job.
* Having to give her gas money because she is too sorry / lazy to get a job.
* Having to turn off the lights in every room she has been in because she is too lazy / sorry to turn them off (and doesn't pay the electric bill).

Don't get me wrong, I love my daughter, but if I had raised her instead of her mother, she would be a different woman.

Sick and Freakin' Tired

Okay, there are TV shows that I am SO sick and tired of hearing about that sometimes I think I want to vomit!

As far as I'm concerned, if they went off the air and all the actors were never heard of again I would be as happy as a pig in shit.

And the shows are --
*American "gag me with a coke spoon" Idol
*ALL dancing shows
*ALL talent(less) shows
*ALL so-called Reality Shows
*Lost
*Desperate "lame Lame LAME!" Housewives

There are others I would rather not hear about, but the above mentioned are the worst offenders.

EW's Best and Worst Reality Shows

This week's Entertainmet Weekly wasted several pages on the best and worst reality TV shows. That's like listing the best and worst piles of DOG SHIT !

When are TV execs going to wake up and get rid of these CRAP shows and actually produce shows that are worth watching??

Think "Burn Notice," "The Closer," "Gilmore Girls," "Veronica Mars," "Battlestar Galactica," "Army Wives" and "Monk" to name just a few.

Of course, these are some of my favorites shows, but they are obviously favorites of millions of other viewers, otherwise they wouldn't have been on the air for as long as they were / are.

Spelling Bees -- What a Waste of time!

It's Spelling Bee season again, and once again students all over America will be trying to learn to spell words they never heard of. And the ones they have, they probably have no idea of what they mean.
.
So, what's the point? I remember when I was in school I had to learn to spell words from a long list of words I never heard of. Sometimes I would wonder if they were even real words!
.
If they are going to have these things, they need to make the students not only know how to spell the words, but they should give the definitions, and maybe even use the words in a sentence (and NOT someting like "I don't know what [xxxx] means" !).
.
By having to learn the defintions, the students' vocabularies will be increased SO much, and this can only help them in their academic pursuits.

Two Years Too late

The 2009 Emmys are coming next Fall (September, I believe). And I am still incensed and angry over the fact that the wonderful and imaginative TV show "Gilmore Girls" and the very talented star of the show, Lauren Graham, were never even nominated! **

For seven seasons "Gilmore Girls" brought us all the things we want in a TV series -- laughter, drama, sadness, delightful relationships, quirky characters, and story lines that engrossed us and kept us coming back week after week, and season after season.

(If you have never seen the show, or only watched it sporadically, you owe it to yourself to buy the DVDs and get on board. The prices have gotten very reasonable.)

In addition to Lauren, Kelly Bishop, who played Lorelai Gilmore's mother, Emily, certainly deserved a nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series!

Right now Lauren Graham is on Broadway in the very successful revival of the musical play, "Guys and Dolls." It has has been nominated for a Tony award for Best Revival for a Musical, which proves that her talents are boundless.

And that's all I have to say about THAT!
......
** The show did win an Emmy in 2004 for Outstanding Makeup for a Series for the episode "The Festival of Living Art."

Start of a New Enterprise

**No, not THAT Enterprise! (I was a "Voyager" fan anyway.) I've wanted to start blogging, just never had the time/opportunity until now.

**There are many subjects I want to hit on (and even more women I'd like to hit on) and I will eventually get around to them. (The subjects. The women I'm thinking of are WAAAAAY out of my league!)

**I am pretty liberal when it comes to certain subjects. And rather conservative about others. These will be touched upon in the days/weeks/months/whatever to come.

**So that's all for this first, and rather uninformative, blog.

**But tune in again, it should get better. (And if it doesn't, Sorry 'Bout That..)
